Beef Casserole

500-700gm beef chuck steakÂ
3 carrots, choppedÂ
1 onion, dicedÂ
2 Tbsp butter or olive oilÂ
1 heaped Tbsp flour (or change to gluten-free flour)Â
2 cloves garlic, chopped finelyÂ
1 cup red wineÂ
1 cup beef stockÂ
1 tub tomato pasteÂ
Salt/ pepper to taste
Directions
- Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven or another pan and cook the meat until brown on the outside. Put aside on a plate then add the onions/ garlic and saute.Â
- Add the meat and the rest of the ingredients into the casserole dish or pan, then place in oven at 150 degrees for 3-4 hours depending on how tender you want the meat. Ideally you want the meat to fall apart. If using a slow cooker, cook on low for 6-8 hours.
- Season to taste and garnish with your favourite herbs.Â
