Ingredients

  • 500-700gm beef chuck steak 

  • 3 carrots, chopped 

  • 1 onion, diced 

  • 2 Tbsp butter or olive oil 

  • 1 heaped Tbsp flour (or change to gluten-free flour) 

  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped finely 

  • 1 cup red wine 

  • 1 cup beef stock 

  • 1 tub tomato paste 

  • Salt/ pepper to taste

Directions

  • Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven or another pan and cook the meat until brown on the outside. Put aside on a plate then add the onions/ garlic and saute. 
  • Add the meat and the rest of the ingredients into the casserole dish or pan, then place in oven at 150 degrees for 3-4 hours depending on how tender you want the meat. Ideally you want the meat to fall apart. If using a slow cooker, cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  • Season to taste and garnish with your favourite herbs.
