Been eating a little too much sugar over the Easter period? Your liver can become stressed when it’s exposed to unhealthy foods or environmental pollutants and is unable to work as efficiently. For a healthy liver, eat foods that stimulate liver functioning. Cruciferous vegetables boost the amount of glucosinalate in your body. Glucosinolate is an organic compound that increases the manufacture of enzymes in your liver that in turn support digestive health and help rid your body of toxins. Leafy green vegetables protect your liver by neutralizing metals, chemicals and pesticides from foods and the environment. Apples are rich in pectin, the soluble fiber that helps remove toxins and cholesterol from the blood, which helps your liver big time! Lemons provide a wealth of antioxidants, primarily Vitamin C, and they help your liver produce more enzymes which give you more energy and help with digestion.
This smoothie has all the ingredients in that you will need to help your body digest and detoxify. Give that liver some love!
